Client: Newydd Housing Association
Location: Llangan, Bridgend, Wales
Newydd is a charitable housing association that offers nearly 3,000 affordable homes for rent and sale to people where need is at its greatest in Mid and South Wales. The Newydd vision is simply to provide affordable homes and support sustainable communities with excellent services to tenants and customers.
Project description: A project to build 13 homes, each with GIA 76m2 in the South of Wales using the offsite small panel build method.
Newydd Housing Association is working in partnership with Canna Developments and Parc Prison. Canna Developments attended the Beattie Passive Flying Factory training and are now supervising prisoners from Parc Prison in the building of the small panels which make up each home. Canna Developments are also giving site experience to prisoners with relevant trade skills, with an eye to taking on as many of these prisoners as possible into full-time employment after their release.
